Art Department: Luis Perez Jauregui

Artworks Luis Perez Jauregui

Luis Perez Jauregui creates character transformations. Consequently, the artist's self-portrait becomes an anti-self-portrait. Still, his body of work comprises a multiplicity of his very own, characteristic personae. I asked him to create a piece for the Art Department series.

He concludes: 'In my opinion, the aesthetic of Lynn & Horst is very clean and minimal, with a dark provocative side to it, so I wanted to create a character that best represented that. The harness is something I made myself specially for this character. It was inspired by the art of S&M and rope bondage. Instead of rope though, I used a strand of metallic beads to transform an otherwise simple harness into something more modern.'

Art Department: Paul Mpagi Sepuya

Photos Paul Mpagi Sepuya

Cordially contributing a photographic interpretation of the essence of Lynn & Horst, the creator himself states: "These are pairs, but pairs not that they are separate but that they are slight shifts in viewing of an object. Each is a study that I keep in the background of my studio, pinned to the wall. Lynn & Horst I also come back to as an example of a study, the pairings of objects and references. In these desk and model studies the objects and references become each other."

Art Department: Richard Kilroy

Drawing Richard Kilroy

As a Lynn & Horst exclusive, illustrator Richard Kilroy payed homage to lipstick and sausage: "I chose the Diana Dondoe / David Sims / Balenciaga 03 ad image because I felt it encompassed a lot of what Lynn & Horst is about. I wanted the illustration to have some kind of monolithic tone with a minimalist/reductivist quality, but with lots of intricate details that add to the overall effect."
