Post Paris IV

A false encyclopaedic guide to the prêt-à-porter collections for Spring/Summer 2012.
Fourth chapter: Balenciaga

1. Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2012
2. Mandarin Duck
3. Mark Rothko

Sharp, angular shapes detached from the female body. Yet their components create a technoid symbiosis built on natural references. I really enjoyed my latest visit to the zoo.

Miusing Escher

1. Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2010
2. M. C. Escher Untitled (No. 126)

Quite obvious and still unnoticed. It recalls a childhood memory of mine. Filling out a whole paper with animals. Each outline complementing the other and creating yet unseen creatures. Escher lies within us.

Artworks Hunt Slonem
Collection Tim Hamilton Fall/Winter 2011

While mentally preparing for my post-fifties career-turn as a surrealist painter, the accompanying clothes keep knocking on the studio door. Ready to experiment with latex and acryl.

Wolpertinger

Merve Tuna Graduate Collection

Humanity is questioned and the monstrous idealised. Taxidermised animals serve as belt, stole, brooch and trousers. Cruel accessories opposed to soft and feminine materials. A macabre vision, yet perfectly executed.

Rejuvenating Cure

Etro Fall/Winter 2010

Seems like Etro had a little facelift, some liposuction, a bit of workout. And I am absolutely in love with this particular look. The gloves, the bird, the gaiters. Forever young. Who can resist the raw, unpolished and innocent?

Reverse

Photos Audrey Corregan

Haughty creatures turning their back on you, beware of their unreachable beauty. Wing endowed beings with peacock attitude. Too intimidating to face their front.

La Cage Aux Folles

My little birdies Canary and Budgie are famous now. They are posing with Luke! And they look fantastic. I should start a street casting model agency representing birds, non?

Textured People Pt.III

Picture perfect? In this case it’s not about style in the first place, it’s about the right dosis of kitsch and romance in your life. I recommend: Wear tees with animal portraits! Or with black and white pictures of your beloved.
