Split Screen

All clothes Bruno Pieters for Weekday

A monochrome outside world below zero degrees. Washed stone, snow-covered concrete, traces of road salt. A scenery of grey, white and beige. Acclimatization as survival of the fittest.

Weight Watchers

Calvin Klein Spring/Summer 2011, 2009 & 2008

As a gym bunny myself, I tend to identify more and more with the Calvin Klein man. Square and hunky. While I'll most probably stay on the slender side, I'd like to watch you becoming him.

Slit

Laitinen Spring/Summer 2012

Slitted eyes. Slitted wrists. Slitted knit. The side of a man's torso revealed. Bare shoulders, uncovered skin. Soft lines accentuating the principles of human construction.

The Non-Experiment

Rick Owens Spring/Summer 2012

A directional presentation of menswear. What it is and what it could be. Floor-length linen dresses and graphic indications of the stripe, brought into an acceptable form. A valuable contribution.

Preen Spring/Summer 2004

Nudity. In a figurative sense. And maybe the best Preen collection ever. Admittedly quite Helmut-esque. As it becomes manifest in the use of bandages, straps and suspenders.

Bare Back

1. Unknown & Alexander Calder, Untitled, 1953
2. Unknown & Jackson Pollock, Lavender Mist, 1950
3. Pietro Franch Graduate Collection & Eduardo Chillida, Untitled, 1996

Usually, Horst can only be seen wearing black. So adding another non-colour to his non-colour range is a huge achievement. And just between us girls: he's enjoying it. All-nude.

Trojan Horse

Dries van Noten Fall/Winter 2011

Set in an ancient-mystical scenery, eternal remembrance might not apply to this collection's pieces. The hype of the season left indifferent. Only noteworthy with its fur-lined lapels and colour-block trousers. Je suis desolée.

Sans Substitute

Fendi Fall/Winter 2007 & Spring/Summer 2007

There has been one year in the history of Fendi that demands closer inspection. 2007 offered impeccable cut and attention to material. As a result I am truly melancholic regarding the fact that the menswear line as such doesn't exist anymore. Maybe I have to comfort myself with a logo bag.

The Spell

Hernández-Cornet Spring/Summer 2011

The ancient myth of fox spirits. Transforming into the outer appearance of a beautiful young woman. Seducing the beholder. Their surroundings continuously shifting. Reflected through garments of displacement and a distorted reality. Nothing is what it seems.

Dries van Noten Fall/Winter 2010 vs. Camel

I am in love with every single piece from that collection. And I realized: I need this double-breasted jacket. In the colour camel. I know it's hip and trendy but I have to surrender to it. It's hip and trendy in a good way.

Contemporary Classics

Céline Spring/Summer 2010

Yes, it is nice to wallow in future seasons and collections. But also very refreshing to just focus on the now. Therefore, I recommend women of today to enrich their wardrobe with a piece of Céline. Maybe the best choice this season.

Nude Panzer

AF Vandevorst Fall/Winter 2010, Spring/Summer 1999, Spring Summer 2010

If I were a girl... Always felt intrigued by the AF Vandevorst concept. Remotely controlled marionettes in strait jackets. Seemingly forced into rigid structures to be protected from themselves. The beautiful interpretation of a mental institution.
