Sherman Questions IV

1. Cindy Sherman Untitled #129, 1983
2. Prada Fall/Winter 2006

Melancholic women, beaten by their fears and the eternity of life. The will to create is mostly motivated by the artist's urge to achieve immortality. While art is still said to posess the strength of eternal elevation, fashion (and in particular campaign imagery) is doomed to a short life span per se.

Hero Worship

Part 16: Devon Aoki

Photos Sean & Seng, Paolo Roversi

The über-model and eternal baby doll. Non-geisha, non-virgin, muse. Sad red lips, white porcelain skin. The face of the nineties and the face of tomorrow. Greatness.

Normative Reference

A mirrored scenario. With slight aberrations: Semicircular arches are replaced by strictly square glass doors. The fragment of a face substituted by an entrance construction. The mood and colours remain identical.

Freaks

Vases Piero Fornasetti

After seeing It at the weekend, I feel attracted to scary faces and grotesque creatures lurking after me. Oh, by the way, there is a clown hiding in your fridge.

Physical Fragment

Artworks Winston Chmielinsk

The human a surface for its surrounding. Faces transformed into empty space and textured by unverifiable transparency. The being as assemblage of seemingly incongruous pieces.

The Boys of Carlotta

This is a love story. A really long one - with happy end.

I admire the work of wonderful Carlotta Manaigo. There is so much beauty...
