Refashioned, Contextualized

Steven Klein for Arena Homme + Spring/Summer 1996

When leopard and lace were part of a different kind of masculinity and manhood. Images that recall another cultural phenomenon. MTV, Green Day, Silverchair. Men that play with roughness, sensitivity. And leave the last shirt button open.

Balenciaga Questions XIII

1. Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2011
2. Diesel Black Gold Fall/Winter 2012

A skirt is cut in stiff, overlapping leather panels. A classic shirt is added, fixated with a belt that optically pierces the front. Just an observation. One can either love it or leave it.

Case of Recurrence II

Givenchy Fall/Winter 2012

Oh wait, the studded shirt has already come back. Resurrected by the hands of Riccardo Tisci. Enhanced, enriched and enlarged by the embellished Minotaur nose ring. Anyways, I still want the Prada!

Case of Recurrence

Prada Fall/Winter 2009

The ways of desire are eratically irrational. Suddenly you are confronted with the wishful thought of owning the studded shirt from Prada Fall/Winter 2009. But maybe there is someone who has it and is over it?

Ex-Post Integration

Hooded shirt Raf Simons
Leopard top Givenchy
Trousers Laitinen
Shoes Doc Martens

We will do it again. Sleeve under rolled-up sleeve. Hoodie under shirt. My system did not allow it. The option was completely banned. Until now. And it feels better than before.

Whole Again

Anna Michaelis UDK Graduate Show 2011

Complementing thoughts on incomplete garments. Martin Margiela and Helmut Lang tought their lesson well. Cut out or cut away. Either way, I am into it. Especially when combined with sandals and socks.

Permanent Crime

Dries van Noten Fall/Winter 2010 (ruined by a permanent marker)

I love my vintage-new Dries shirt. Olive green with thin black outlines, seemingly hand-drawn onto the seam's edges. Painfully, someone took this aesthetic approach literally today. And accidentally ruined it with a permanent marker.

New Blood

Miu Miu Fall/Winter 2004

It's a shame the Miu Miu menswear line doesn't exist anymore. Reason enough to wallow in memories and acquire a piece or two for one's very own fashion archive. I am more than willing to do so.

Raw Ingredients

Photos Patrick Demarchelier

Boxy shirts, barely buttoned. Strong cheek bones. Soft voluptuous lips. And Horst lived happily ever after.

Basic Instinct

Shirt Hernández Cornet

As the Hernández Cornet Fall/Winter collection entitled 9 seeks inspiration from cross-dressing and bi-gender, I was planning to photobooth myself in high-heels. But: I don't have any high-heels. So I decided to just leave away the bottoms and give it a dressy feel.

L'Imagination

Variations of my surreal Paris outfit. Endless arresting possibilities. Best combined in a classic context. The harness is a boy's best friend.

Shredded

Ripped denim, we heard this song before. If you ask me, ripped shirts are much nicer, less predictable and very intriguing.
