Post New York

A false encyclopaedic guide to the womenswear collections, presenting:
Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2012

1. Rachel Blanchard as Cher Horowitz in Clueless
2. Cruella de Vil
3. Chad Butler aka Pimp C

We were all shocked by the vast, almost never-ending fur hat explosion at Marc Jacobs. An accessory that had almost been erased from our collective memory. But now we can announce with excitement: 'Crack is whack. The pimp fur look is back.'

Forgotten Persoons

Clothes Jurgi Persoons
Photograms Laszlo Moholy-Nagy

And suddenly there was Jurgi Persoons. Within the (too) short time span of 1997 to 2003, the unavowed Antwerp locum introduced clothes for 'anorectic, rich and lazy young girls'. His broken minimalism still merits recognition.

Post Paris XIV

A false encyclopaedic guide to the menswear collections, presenting:
Raf Simons Fall/Winter 2012

1. Philippe Starck Gnome Table
2. Undefined furry object
3. Steven Meisel Vogue Italia, 1992

A collection of gnomes. An army almost. And they exclusively wear shorts in winter. Ironically, it is not a joke. So we are left with one choice: Commit to the ludicrous in all seriousness. Or have a laugh.

The World's Best Moments Of Drag Performance

1. Mary So Leb Dein Leben
2. Lady Bunny Wigstock 2005
3. RuPaul Supermodel (You Better Work)
4. Elton John & RuPaul Don't Go Breaking My Heart
5. Jukka K. Cher, Gaga and I
6. Yara Sofia Echa Pa' Lante!
7. After Dark Invincible
8. After Dark Showtime
9. Lady Bunny Burlesque
10. RuPaul Lip Sync For Your Life

RuPaul has changed my life. He/she changed the way I utilize language, the way I play with self-irony, random words and endless repetition. He/she made me laugh. The precious kind of laugh that only occurs when you are all by yourself. And looking back, the art of drag has already moved and formed me at the youngest age. So in fact, Mary has changed my life.

L'Imitation

Trompe l'œil shoes Comme des Garçons
Snakeskin belt Comme des Garçons Homme Plus
Fake leather top Topman

Almost every piece of Comme des Garçons is a theoretical construct, an ironic construct and a deconstructed construct. The fake, the camp and the comical. For you, I'll paint my nails red.

Welcome To The Camp

1. Jil Sander Spring/Summer 2011 & Issey Miyake Spring/Summer 2002

2. Yohji Yamamoto Spring/Summer 2008

3. Issey Miyake Fall/Winter 2001

4. Junya Watanabe Fall/Winter 2003

Camp is an aesthetic sensibility that regards something as appealing because of its bad taste and ironic value. When the usage appeared in 1909 it denoted: ostentatious, exaggerated, affected and theatrical. By the middle of the 1970s the definition comprised: banality, artifice, mediocrity and ostentation so extreme as to have perversely sophisticated appeal. I am pseudo-intellectual camp.

Careless Whisper

Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2006

Rumours abound that Miu Miu menswear will return. We embrace this speculation with sleeveless arms. And we are looking forward to ugly beautiful footwear, ironic prints and pre-Prada sentiments.

Tropical Heat

1. Martin Honert Fata Morgana & Kenzo Spring/Summer 2012
2. Henri Rousseau Éclaireurs attaqués par un tigre & Givenchy Spring/Summer 2012
3. Andreas Gursky Beach & Raf Simons Spring/Summer 2012
4. Jeremy Parnell Big Chook & Prada Spring/Summer 2012

It's about beaches and jungles, flowers and sand castles. Childhood memories, vacation traumata and global warming are melting and diffusing into each other. Just like a bar of rainbow coloured ice cream. In 2012, men wear Hawaii shirts, bermuda shorts and (hopefully) banana skirts.
