Disk Warriors

1. Jil Sander Fall/Winter 2000 & Spring/Summer 2010
2. Jil Sander Fall/Winter 2010 & Unknown
3. Jil Sander Spring/Summer 1998 & Spring/Summer 2006

Jil Sander and the shape. The circle and the irregular square. It has happened before and it will happen again. Just as the shape itself, it's a recurrent element that I dare to foresee in the upcoming collections.

Early Works

Artworks Richard Kilroy

What I admire most about Richard Kilroy's work is not the photo-realistic simulation of strands of hair, light and shadow. Instead it is the instinctive, gestural drawing that is capable of presenting the essence of an appearance.

The Turkish Bath

Jean Paul Gaultier Spring/Summer 2011

American Gigolo at DSquared, Space Odysee at Thom Browne and Steam at Jean Paul Gaultier. Runway backdrops quote cinematic stereotypes. Further recommendations of movies including sauna, steam or locker rooms are very welcome.

Absence

Hussein Chalayan Spring/Summer 2010

This time, Hussein Chalayan only convinced me at second view. But once having discovered the nearly invisible ghost hands holding the garments and creating cryptic structures, his vision wins my heart again. However, I am missing his brilliant runway presentations.

Steel Muscle Fight

Kye CSM Graduate Collection 2009 vs. He-Man

Yes, I should go to the gym. My German beer belly is annoying. I want a sixpack. But isn't the gym unbearably boring? Rather just put on a soft and smooth muscle jumper, no?

Light Source

LCF Graduate Show 2009

The standards were high, the collections cohesive and well-thought-out. Each of them. No fashion school crap, just intelligence and consistency. Super women in mesh tights and fringe capes. Light blue creatures of purity. Layers of fur. Plateau heels. Lacer cut. Exaggerated red tubes craftsmanship. High-buttoned shirt dresses, nude leather waistcoats and porcelain collar tips. This must be love.

Walking Duvets

Gareth Pugh Fall/Winter 2009

Veronique Branquinho & Iceberg Fall/Winter 2009

Junya Watanabe & Vivienne Westwood Fall/Winter 2009

It's so easy for the women in 2009 and 2010 to dress fabuleux in winter: Just stay in bed, or well, take your bed with you! That's the symbiosis of prèt-á-porter and laissez-faire. Cozy. Let's snuggle and cuddle!

Even Longer

James Long Totalitarian Heroes Collection

Severe soldiers. Crisscross leather details. Black and white looks. Avantgarde futurism. I am more and more convinced that I need a leather harness to wear on top of a white shirt.

Detail Shock

Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2009

I really like what Alexander McQueen did for SS09: Great prints, structured shapes, references to the dirndl. But what is this? A chicken feet? Can someone please send Magdalena Frackowiak to pedicure? Or is it just the shoes? Ugliness brought to a new dimension.

Smokey Crochet Fight

Stella McCartney Spring/Summer 2009 vs. Crochet Curtain

Apperently I like pointing out undeniable similarities. We are all inspired by what surrounds us, right?

Black Thread

Jil Sander vs. Zac Posen Spring/Summer 2009

Know that I can't get over you
'Cause everything I see is you
And I don't want no substitute
Baby I swear it's Deja Vu

The Fall Of The House Prada

Prada Spring/Summer 2009

These runway pictures are better than anything I've seen so far. High-heel cracking model walks are pure entertainment. Can someone please publish a book or wirte a novel about it?

New Proportions

Duckie Brown Spring/Summer 2009

Lately I am very into overlength for guys. The 'shirt dress' seems to make it into men's wardrobes. Even I go for it and surprisingly it doesn't look ridiculous at all. So finding a new silhouette for men is always a venture but worth a try.

P.S.: This was the last sex-related post for today, hehe. I'll try to be more buttoned up tomorrow.
