Vacant Manifestation

Furniture Rick Owens

Moving day is approaching and I realized 'I have nothing'. Therefore, I'll pursue the brutalist way and built a neverending temporary installation with clothes, books and magazines.

Post Paris XV

A false encyclopaedic guide to the menswear collections, presenting:
Issey Miyake Fall/Winter 2012

1. Heather and Ivan Morison Black Pig Lodge, 2011
2. Michael Jackson feat. Janet Jackson Scream, 1995
3. Jean Tinguely Relief Méta-Mécanique Sonore II, 1955

A collection that succeeds where others fail. The programmatic approach to texture manipulation results in a 3D pyramid layer created of multiple triangles that partly protrude with each movement and reflect not only light but aesthetic history.

Bootylicious

Rick Owens Fall/Winter 2012

Although minimalist at heart, I tend to fall for visually busy and complicated footgear: multi-laced and multi-strapped. With its reduced architecture and hidden closure construction, this version succeeds in uniting the best of both extremes.

Wooden Veneer Fight

Rodarte Spring/Summer 2011 vs. Bavarian balcony

Absolutely loved this collection. Carvings on planks as dresses. One cannot deny a certain resemblance to the traditional Bavarian balcony. Or the typical yet brutal wall systems Germans are so fond of. But yes, bad childhood memories can be transformed into renewed contexts of beauty.

Razor Thorn

Jacket JULIAANDBEN

A rare feeling. Putting on a garment for the very first time - and knowing it's perfection. Love at first sight. Let's never break up. Let's walk through the sun and through the rain.

Carving Board

Maison Martin Margiela Spring/Summer 2011

A reinforced laminate waistcoat. An example of artisanal craftsmanship. Clear evidence and perfect proof for the MMM ethos: redefinition of materials and calculated misappropriation.

Compression

Ann Demeulemeester Spring/Summer 2011

To contrast yesterday's confession, serious offerings for a tasteful man's wardrobe. All-white futurism replaces the erstwhile melancholic romanticism of Ann Demeulemeester. An inventive shift to modernity that pleases my eye.

Profanity

Alexander Wang Fall/Winter 2010

Just 5 minutes later. Life stream screen shots and my BBM commentary: Velvet. Bra cutouts. Black. Backpacks. Quite Prada-ish. Sunglasses worn over hair on sides. Styling is excellent. Seriously. Silver pearls in narrow geometric lines. Really good I have to admit.

2000

Boudicca Fall/Winter 2000

I somehow like the idea of decade reviews. I honestly do think the noughties have the potential to stand out against the nineties. Although I am aware that this thesis is facing strongest disagreement. But let me prove to you. Starting with the look of 2000: Boudicca.

The Spell

Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2009

This collection was quite ingenious. Especially referring to one aspect: the slimming use of colour and construction. In fact, it is one of his strongest collections. Decent and yet impulsive.

Clear-Sightedness

Dior Homme Spring/Summer 2010

I might have a slight aversion to Kris van Assche but I have to admit my adoration of his x-ray jackets and short-sleeved coats for Spring/Summer 2010. Simulating an insight view while not hiding the details of construction.

Rue de Rivoli

Designs Madeleine Vionnet

I am counting the days. Until my heart will beat be in Paris again. I will taste Ladurée macaroons. I will smell the perfume of fashion editors. And I will behold the beauty of past and future fashion design.
